Life, the World, People

Life used to feel like an examination. The world was a big judgment court. Now both feel a bit more like a playground.

A child builds with wooden blocks inside the open chest of a large, seated suit of armour in a warm miniature room.

I was thinking about what I associate with three words.

Life. The world. People.

Life used to feel like an examination. A test.

The world was a big judgment court.

Now both feel a bit more like a playground.

A bit. It’s not black and white.

People is the one I’m less sure about.

Maybe I used to think people were mean.

Now I think people are imperfect. But that’s okay. I’m imperfect as well.

The way I picture it, the adult is armour built around the child. Something created to protect it.

I think the child underneath is mainly innocent.

The conditioning, trauma, pressures. I suspect that’s where a lot of the bad stuff comes from. The desire for power. Something in the psyche getting corrupted or fractured and compensating in some way.

But underneath the armour, I still believe there’s a pure potential for goodness in people.

I don’t know what brought these associations to my attention. They came up a while ago.

And what does the playground actually look like in my day?

I don’t know.

It’s just a bloody game or dance.

I want to make sure the game doesn’t hurt other people.

Beyond that, it’s just a bloody game or dance.

Nothing else.
